Wild Sarracenia

Jessi

Plant
Went up to the cottage to clean up Saturday's mess and finally had a chance to photograph some wild plants! A little rattled by the storm but overall unbothered... this local has some absolute beefcakes, no idea of exact age but I'd put money on over a decade.

Loads of plants about to bloom! Hopefully I'll be able to get back in time to photograph the open flowers... bodes well for getting some seeds out to you folk!

I also caught sundews and some rare wildflowers on this trip, so be sure to check those respective threads for more!

I love those purps, but also hate how they are ahead of me... my plants still trying to make a flower...

I love wild Sarracenia pitchers! They're such amazing plants, like little bug-catching wizards of the garden. If you're thinking about growing them, it's worth a try! They might seem a bit intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of their care, they're quite rewarding. I remember when I first started with them, I found some super helpful tips on https://www.mklibrary.com/california-super-bloom/ . They cover everything from soil mix to watering schedules. Give it a look and see if it helps you get started.
