I think those are still wonderful!

U. alpina may be a common plant but when grow well (like yours) it’s hard to say everyone doesn’t need one!

Do you give yours any dry rest to encourage flowering?

Haven't given it a dry rest yet. Any tips for going about this?

I don't have perfect conditions to grow it, but it survives.

@Shoggoths has a really nice one posted here.

I got a U. alpina the other day, and I’m wondering what these eat, both in the wild and cultivation. I can’t imagine that there would be many tiny water fleas and infusoria swimming around I. the tree branches where they grow. So what do the epiphytic utrics eat? And what can I feed it?

Years ago i had quite a large collection of utrics that grew quite well and i never really worried about feeding them. They always seemed to have stuff in their traps. I suppose if you were worried you go find some soggy moss and wring it out into your pots/watering troughs and that would probably establish a population on something they'd feed on.

This pot just popped out 3 fresh flower stalks after over a year!

What was the trigger?

Well I left for a couple of weeks and I didn't turn the air conditioner on because I forgot, and luckily we didn't get really warm temps here except for a few days but with the lights being on and no air movement at all, the temperatures did increase by three or four degrees over average. Normally I would turn the house circulation fan on just to get air movement and stabilize temperatures throughout the house but with me not being here that didn't happen.

A bunch of pings also broke out of winter mode at the same time.

Interesting. The Utricularia alpina "Henri Pittier" I got from you is just now putting out a flower spike too. The night temps in my grow tent are warming up a little but I've been keeping it under 20°c days since I got it. Is that one also "Henri Pittier"?
