tp-link kp200

Hello gang,

I just intalled a new tp-link kp200 2 plugs device to control the lights of my new set-up.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if I can program it by myself.

I can use the app to turn the light on and off with sunrise / sunset. I can also add an hour before or after the event if day lenght is too short (like in Winter). However, I think I would prefer to have the light on from 8 AM to 8/10 PM rather than at 5 AM.

What I would really like is to use a calendar, put the open / close time for each month and let it go. Is it feasible ? The device is compatible with Google home, Alexa and Samsung smart things.

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure what I have are similar plugs to what you got. I manually set the time through the kasa app. My grow tent lights are on overnight for warmth in the winter nights and to keep the tent cooler when they're off during summer days.

I tried setting sunrise/sunset to Lahore Pakistan which happens to be 12hrs difference from here and at around the right latitude for the plants I'm growing. It wasn't quite right for my schedule and I gave up. Now I just change the time a little every month to go roughly with the day length at the latitude where mexi-pings, ZA dews and cephs grow. If you're not as picky I bet you can set the time and lat longs in the settings to somewhere that would work for you and use sunrise/sunset for the on and off settings. You could just add an hour or so on both ends at somewhere near the equator.

I would really like to set it on a calender too. I haven't found any way to do that though. Let me know if you do!

Here's where I set it manually in the app:

Are these the ones you got? They seem a bit finicky and rather restrictive. If you're not using a smart home system already then I think you might be better off just using an analog timer plug.
Currently my setup is through Apple homekit(you need an apple device + apple TV or homepod; old apple TVs are dirt cheap on FB) with these Kasa Matter smart plugs. I can set them on/off based on sunrise/sunset as well as based on certain time of day plus a whole bunch of programmable things. Im pretty sure they can also be tied into HomeAssistant to allow for full customizable programmatic control and the Matter protocol also really cool and I could probably talk about it for hours but if you're not already invested in a smart home system, it's probably not worth it.
If you still want a smart plug, though, I think anything that uses the Smart Life app should work Amazon but imo the app interface is meh.

Yes that's the one. Thank you for the reply. I think it is compatible with HomeAssistant but I don't know python so it could be a bit hard for me to manage it that way. Also, it is the only intelligent device in my home so I was looking for something straightforward.

Thank you @Smilodonichthys I came to the same conclusion as you did. I think the easiest way would be to take a time zone that fit my need. I think IFTTT could do what we need but it looks like it is now a paying app :(
