I’m not buying that sprouting is normal that early in the tomato’s life cycle. This seems to only happens to some store bought ones.

might be repeating myself but it has never happened in my garden of any of the 20+ varieties I have grown over the years. My garden today, a over ripe one, doesn’t get any more ripe and be edible, seeds still normal.

I have to agree, never, ever seen this. An old grower I knew would let his seed tomatoes completely ripen till they fell apart and needless to say, the seeds never germinated in the tomato.
