Starting small from seed

Newbnoob

Carnivore
To start I'll be using a tote and solo cups. Solo cups stand 5 inches tall. I made a small hole on each side of each cup, right near the bottom. I plan on adding 0.5 to 1 inch of water when reservoir gets very low/near dry. Will be using a 2x2 space in my tent. Light is a generic 100w led floodlight, 5000k colour temp.
Mixed 1:1 peat moss and perlite. Perlite was rinsed in distilled water. Added a touch of straight peat on top to hold the seeds snug.
My spray bottle had nutrient water in it before. Would I be okay rinsing with hot tap water and flushing it with distilled water before filling it up completely with distilled?
I haven't put the seeds in yet. Does this look right to everyone? Any suggestions before I pull the trigger and add seeds?

A HUGE thank you to the generous folks that were able to get me started with a few seeds!! Very thankful!!

I downloaded a light measuring app and measured 1 foot from the corner of my marshydro 100w light and was hitting about 30k lux. I then measured the 100w, 5000k and was hitting just a bit lower, around 28k-29k lux. So that's what I'm going by...lol.

If anyone sees something I'm doing wrong or a way it could be made better, please share!

I'm waiting for confirmation of water bottle situation before adding seeds. Should I just buy a new dollarstore one later today? Or would I be okay rinsing with hot water, then flushing with distilled?

Peat takes time to wet itself without hand squeezing... You will have trouble to '' hold the seeds snug '' with the top dry peat as pictured.
And I will buy a new spray bottle.

@coconut I have the peat wicking as we speak, but wanted to be sure of my spray bottle. I'm heading out later today, so will grab one then. Can then wet the surface and add the seeds.

Thanks for the bottle advice!

Should I be putting the sarracenia's in my cold storage room for a couple weeks? It sits at about 10c-15c....stratification and all this...

That's not really cold enough. I'd recommend cold stratification in the crisper part of your fridge.
Must be damp though. Dry cold just keeps them viable but won’t induce germination as moisture penetrating the outer shell is what triggers the growth.

Have the 4 sarracenias still in the moist peat and perlite solo cups, in a plastic shopping bag, in the crisper of the refrigerator. I misted the inside of the bag with distilled water and a couple drops of peroxide...I'll check on them every couple days for mold and such.

The droseras and dionaeas are sitting in just under an inch of water, basking under the 100w led. These ones are good to go with no strat?

Anyone ever see one of these "moss milkshake" kits? A friend's father passed away and this was in their shed. Looks like it was $20 back in 2010 when he bought it. Says "indefinite shelf life"...so gonna give'er a whirl.
Would I be better off just dampening it all and putting in a ziplock bag?..or that only works with live mosses? Otherwise I was going to spread a thin layer of peat moss and perlite in this tray and spread the "moss milkshake" over it.

It also came with a plastic sheet that just fell apart as I unfolded it.
Thoughts?

I've got a whack of clean, unused hydroton too. Would more surface area on a porous object be better?

Edit...got it, Lloyd! Thanks much!

Day 3 of Sarracenia seeds sitting on wet peat..temp has been holding around 0c-2c...too cold or is okay? Peat is not frozen, just really, really cold...lol.
And not to sound impatient...lol..day 3...but do these need the full 6 weeks? Have people been successful with 4 weeks?

Four weeks is enough for most and I've had decent germination with that, though I've found I have better luck with 6 week stratification.

As for temperature, from my experience, as long as it stays above freezing and below 10 Celsius, you should be fine.

Finally got some tumeric root at the supermarket. Not sure if it's not in season or what...have been looking for months.
It's not in very good shape, but snagged it for cheap. Found a touch of mold on this one. Will cut that piece off when trying to root these. The health benefits are supposed to be amazing. But I don't trust powdered and pilled...I wanna grow my own and be sure.

I've got it partially submerged in water, as I've seen in some videos. Will see if anything gets going after a couple weeks. It almost looks like they cut out the eyes so you can't grown it yourself...but maybe it just had nice fingers and got torn off.

I had a few seeds mold up...a couple different kinds of mold.
Removed it and dabbed a tiny dab of distilled water + h202 where the mold was
