I have these yellow ones on my plants outside. I've tried to make a colony, but they always die in captivity. I guess they eat pollen or something? Also these black ones are in one of my ping trays and they are easy to see on my ping leaves.

There are a few grey springtails growing in the culture but the orange springtails aren't seemed to be affected. I think they are Bilobella braunerae. They like eating fish flakes.

I got some a bit back from a place in town.
He had them as "Protanura Sp."
According to Reddit, there are a few different orange ones that it could be.

Have a ton of these guys in my flower pots!
Also some pure black globular ones, but I couldn't see any today.

I'll have to make another harvest.
I have just my own starter that I made a few weeks ago. I had one a few years but whites springtails got in there. Now I keep them in a container with a snap clip lid, so nothing is getting in or out.

I flood a few flower pots and pour the water off the top into a white bucket. Then I painfully pick the springtails off the water with a white plant tag and tap them into a small container.

The black ones are prolific breeders. I think they out compete the black/white ones.
I have a small colony with two decaying sticks in a container with some charcoal. I took out one of the sticks and tapped it a few times in another little container and I found 15 black ones and only two black and white.

Only problem is I can't see the black ones because the charcoal is black and the stick has really dark bark!
