Sarrs Zone 4.

I am moving back to Ontario from NS with my Wife. I am wondering if Trumpet Pitchers could survive the extreme colds? The snow gets deep and lasts for a long time. Would this be a sufficient insulator to keep Sarrs outside all year if they are in ground??

Purps are fine with no preparation.
I would prepare a patch of soil. Cover with a thick layer of pine needles (2-3"). Make sure there is a consistent layer of about a foot of snow. Use a temperature logger. If the soil surface temperature stays at or above 0°C for the winter, you can grow Sarr's except for maybe psittacina or minor.
