D.intermedia pioneering on a tree stump at the edge of a shallow lake North of Lac Jérôme, West of Les Bergeronnes. D.intermedia tolerates flooding but does not like competition by other plants or mosses. It likes disturbed patches of bare peat, sand or wet logs and it is one of the first to fill ditches with a red carpet. It will prefer minerotrophic wetlands where it is often found with Utricularia minor, U.intermedia and U.macrorhiza.
