I am hoping to self this guy when the second flower opens.

nice lot of heli's

you have pollen all ready ?? if not you need to get pollen from the first st flower to pollinate the next one , as the time the pollen is released from the first flower the receptor will no longer be receptive , just they way it is

Me Freind Butch , wow not herd that name in long time , he was a bit of a pioneer back in his time on helis , yep have refined that process a bit more over the years , your biggest problem is from specie pollen extraction, they mostly release there pollen at different stages to each other , could be why there is not so many hybrids up there ?? ,best way is keep trying them anthers with buzzing them even before they get very yellow , my tuning fork has served me well over the years , temp will play a bit part in the pollen ripening as well , with more sun the faster the pollen ripens and is able to be extracted , best of luck :)

Thanks - I am expecting difficulty and only wished that I had a chance to practice or try out on a different species before this one.
Will see how it goes! Thanks for the well wishes and advice!

Good luck on the pollination. Hope it goes well. How do you keep the sphagnum so thick and lush!!?
The stuff likes to grow in cool bright and humid environment. Some areas do dry out a little if I don’t water occasionally but the misting system keeps it all happy most of the time.
