Plant
Has anyone grown these plants? They're all over the woods by my house and are in flower now. I've heard that they mostly grow on grasses, although the ones in the forest seem to be parasitising trees.
damnAnd speaking of coyotes! 2 today.
I tried the "making yourself look big, showing teeth and growling". The coyote was unimpressed.
I’ve seen different species of Pedicularis parasiting on poison oak, firs, and spruces.Has anyone grown these plants? They're all over the woods by my house and are in flower now. I've heard that they mostly grow on grasses, although the ones in the forest seem to be parasitising trees.
I'm really into Pedicularis. I got into them after finding some new populations of Pedicularis bracteosa var. atrosanguinea in the mountains here on Vancouver Island. Pedicularis bracteosa var. atrosanguinea was once thought to be endemic to just the Olympic Peninsula. In the Olympics there was less ice coverage during the last glacial maximum and finding taxa like this disjunct from the Olympics here on the Island might hint at glacial refugia. Is anyone still a Pedicularis geek out here? My profile photo is of a Pedicularis from Oregon
