I've seen Legless Lizards in NC while I was down there looking for plants, really gave me a pause wondering what kind of snake they were when I first saw them. They're nice looking animals.

Only other newt species with sail/crest would be the The Alpine Newt but that’s from Northwestern Europe!
Looks very similar to my English Friend.

In addition to the crested newts (Triturus) and the alpine newts (Ichthyosaura) the Lissotriton also have crests in breeding condition. When they were legal in the US, I kept and bred many newt species. I miss having them.
