Muckydoo's pings

P. 'ANPA A' (Tonala)

This one was sad for a good year after I got it. Then it was 'fine' but not thriving. This year it exploded, overtaking the pot it's in. It did flower once after I got it, but still waiting for more flowers.

A cross I did because I was bored and enjoy watching things grow at a painfully slow pace...

P. laxifolia x (P. laueana x P. emarginata)

And the reverse cross
(P. laueana x P. emarginata) x P. laxifolia

They currently look very much the same.

I don't remember when I started them but I think it's been like 6 months at least. I just neglect them and never feed them. I gave it a shot of 100ppm fertilizer a few weeks ago and then they started growing.. imagine that.. lol

Progress post on. P. laxifolia x (P. laueana x P. emarginata). (And the reverse of that)

And then just some trays that are looking pretty nice. These ones are getting a little bit lower light because I adjusted the brightness on my fixtures and they responded quite well.

So I was cleaning up some pings, and I was putting the old flower stalks and dead leaves into a container for isopods, and I just happened to look in and I had a strike off of flowers stem!?!

I don't think I've ever seen that before??

My flower stems always wither up and die unless a seed pod develops.
Guess I want to clarify, I put that stem in the isopod bin a couple of weeks ago. I was potting a ping and pulled off a couple of loose leaves and that stem was kind of just hanging there so I pulled it off the plant. It was a fairly fresh flower so I think that helped a lot. So when I put it in the isopod bin it was just a plain stem.

Do you know what species it belongs to?
Still, it's a quite interesting discovery.

That's great.
I understand the stem was not cut but we could rather say pull from the ping core.
I don't think I would be able to pull many stem without getting the pings busted.
Perhaps it is worth a try.

Yes, not cut, twisted or pulled straight out with force. It broke off after the leaves on that side came off, exposing the whole stem and the 'core' where it was attached.
