JC's Nepenthes

I made some cuttings earlier this month after settling down from everlasting moving. Most of them were pure highland species. They should be ready by spring 2024.

An eddy rescue cutting I made over 8 months ago. This yellow eddy seems taking forever to root. It has no root even though it had produced a nice pitcher.

I had a raff cutting sit there for over a year doing nothing, finally decided to root and exploded into growth with seemingly no change, gotta love the random factor of Nepenthes cuttings! Hope it roots soon.
Neps are fascinating. The more I grow, the more I feel I can learn.

My checklist for an acclimated nepenthes:
  • New growth showing no signs of deformation or shrinking
  • No abnormal leaf senescence
  • Ready to pitcher

This is an AW trusmadiensis clone B that I acquired earlier this year. Now, it is fully acclimated.
I noticed the new leaves under my care are thicker and more elongated compared to the older leaves. I've seen this on a few other plants as well. I thought the change in shape and texture of the leaves was that growth hormones-treated plants grow differently after deflasking because I saw this on a few tissue-cultured plants. However, this TM was propagated via the conventional cutting method, which did not require incubation in a flask.

Very nice, that looks great.

It could just be related to the light you're using. Either the intensity or spectrum, could have that effect. Mine also make thicker, waxier leaves after acclimating under my lights at 400+ umol/m^2 s.

I know light could affect pitcher size and colour, didn't know light would affect leaves as well.

I finally got time to do some overdue repot and post. You can see from the third picture the roots have outgrown the mesh pot and dug back from the gap between the slits into the medium. It was a tough decision whether to trim the roots to remove the pot, so I cut the pot instead:p These seed-grown veitchii are my "selected" individuals. I don't think they will be less beautiful than the famous "Candy Dream":D

Wow, those are some awesome plants. Do you keep them all in a grow tent? How big is it? Do you water manually or automatically? Would love some info, I've been trying to improve my setup.
