One of my H. minors surprised me yesterday with a flower spike. Time to get a tuning fork!

Did anyone else get flowers/pollen this year?

My heterodoxa x minor shot out a flower as well!

I tried harvesting pollen from both flowers but nothing seemed to drop. I used an electric toothbrush to buzz at the flowers with a small bowl underneath.

The first flower is starting to look like it's wilting. Is there anything else I can do?

Might be too late for this flower. I used a tuning fork and some wax paper. There's a picture on this forum. The electric toothbrush might move the flower around too much, making pollen collection difficult. Keep trying, you have nothing to lose. It is tricky, manipulating the tuning fork, flower and wax paper while the pollen fluffs out and settles.

In the past, this is what I did.

I cut one anther from the flower. With a razorblade, I cut a small bit of the tip of that anther, I hold it over a wax paper with a forcep and then I put the tuning fork on the forcep. If there's pollen, it will drops on the paper wax. I'll then remove the other anthers and do the same. If there isn't pollen, I'll wait another day before trying with another anther. The pollen will be use on a new flower. The pistil of the first flower is usually not receptive anymore at the time the pollen is ready.

Good luck
