Leaves look great! There is a variety that forks more often, Drosera binata var. dichotoma. So nothing looks wrong with your leaves, I actually like that variety better myself.

Needs more light, yours is very green and binata is happiest when the leaves and tentacles are slightly reddish to red.

Here is
Drosera binata var. dichotoma ‘T-form’ and Drosera binata var. multifida

My variant is actually dichotoma! So the leaves in the first two attachments are fine? I find their leaf shapes to be very weird compared to how they used to look last summer.

They are under a direct grow light for 12-hour intervals, I don't think light is an issue. Humidity is maintained at around 70% and I water them often with distilled water. Their greenness is maybe due to the variety? Even still though, I'm not sure how this is related to the misshaped leaves.

Should I extend their photoperiod from 12 hours to higher? It is possible, but it would mean I would have to turn the light on/off manually since it is currently on the maximum setting. This could be problematic due to time conflicts with university.

I do have a window right above the setup! However, the daylight interval is very short with only 5 or so hours, and even less time where sun actually enters the window directly.

Sadly I can't grow them outside where I live (it would be sooo much simpler!) because winters become way too cold (-40 degrees at times) so I have to resort to the chilly window method for dormancy (honestly I had thought of leaving them outside on their own throughout the summer instead of bringing them out sometimes and keeping a protective eye on them, but I'm way too paranoid about my plants being picked at by animals or pests). It works well for my temperate plants, since my windowsills stay around 8 degrees and are kept from freezing my plants. It is however possible that I could periodically put my binata next to my fish tank which uses photosynthetic lights as well.

I'll tell ya what though, my binata has only just come out of dormancy, so I should probably wait a little longer for it to be adjusted to summer growth. My current theory is that these two weird leaves were the same ones waiting inside the winter hibernaculum, and so they could have been malformed from the shorter light period while I was trying to coax them into dormancy. Regardless though, thank you for your knowledge on drosera binata and I will bring updates in the future!

I have sometimes a similar issue about first leafs. Sometimes even the rolled tips don't grow out and die. When late spring brings more intense light
they grow normal. I had this issue only inside.
The frozen ones outside come up without problem. Only in very cold winters they don't turn up at all. Therefore I have always a backup inside.

Recently a couple more leaves popped up with a bit more reddish tints, but still weirdly shaped leaves. I will mention though, that they were a bit odd before they even started unraveling. There are now some rolled tips peeking out that look more like what I’m used to so I have high hopes!

There are greener variations of D. binata for sure, check out the "ghost" ones, they are really cool. The most common ones are reddish in color though.
Here's a picture of mine from this morning. :)

They look so pretty!! I know there are green ones for sure, but don’t know if there are known “sub-varieties” of dichotoma that differ in colour. I’m still an amateur when it comes to collecting carnivores.

Hey Carson, do you happen to have any D. multifida seeds or it is the standard single fork D. binata?

My binata plants are small, and somewhat stunted in my opinion. Never had them flower :/ also don't recall what the parent was...
