Semi big news

A new pitcher is almost ready to open on the N. ampullaria x
I love the spurs on the lid, little hairdo lol.

One month after shipping for the D. madagascariensis. Very happy with the growth rate of this little dude.

D. madagascariensis grows like crazy if fed with FDBW. If there's dew, do feed the dew.

New light for the upper chamber and sphagnum moss for the plant order coming in about a week.

Bonus points for colour matching packaging lol.

Much better haha, the Nepenthes will be happier moved back up as well.

Lower chamber will be the sun loving plants, upper chamber more bright indirect light.

The lower chamber has been scrapped for now, the light is too hot for such a small space and the plants started to cook.

This new version should work better, light is nearly doubled in height and placed outside the glass.

Pretty excited to see how this plant will develop with time, it's starting to show the ampullaria peristome on the new growth.

The new additions look great, even after enduring a weekend layover haha.

Spent the morning at Harriet Irving botanical gardens with my grandmother.
The Sarracenia purpurea in flower was my highlight of the morning, I remember viewing it over a decade ago; only had a couple smaller pitchers back then.

Any experienced high land growers should look away at this chaos haha, but this is my work in progress chamber: I'll be adding a little more insulation around the bottom.

Day temps are way lower, but the big test will be tonight's cooling.

Happy to say the first night went well, the temperature dropped to 16.5°c for the low, 18°c around 3 am and back to 20°c by 9am.
I'll definitely add a little more insulation, and find thicker ice packs.

Great idea using 2.5l bottles! I'll start doing the same.

New LED for the highland chamber... It's now receiving the same amount of lighting as the lowland chamber.

The larger N. ephippiata is still struggling.... However the other two have active growth.

And in other news, I thankfully found a map showing the four bogs and rough locations of the native Nova Scotian Drosera filiformis.
I'll have to camp the night by the dews because of driving distance, but I am hopeful to go visit this summer.

I use 2.5l juice bottles as ice packs !

I went with a slightly smaller size, but 10/10 recommendation! Kept 15°c all night, still some ice 10 hours later too.
