Chloramine in low TDS water.

So, I've purchased a TDS meter and our local tap water tds is 32 ppm (which should be good for using on CP's). After lots of digging, it seems we use chloramine in the Victoria water vs chlorine. Chlorine can be just vented off by leaving the water standing, but Chloramine can not. From reading, the chloramine turns the soil a bit acidic. I know this is benefitial (within reason) for some CP's.

My question is, do others that have chloramine in their water have issues watering their CP's?

I've been using distilled for now, but would like something that I don't need to run out and purchase. I picked up a rain barrel, and then realized the run off from the roof tiles and debris in the gutters would likely cause just as many problems. I may end up jury rigging something to collect the water into the barrel (right now my 1ft by 1ft barrel is not collecting much water!). lol.

About 2 ppm of chloramine in your very soft water. I would think it should be fine. What about it Victoria people?
Easy way for rain water is to put down the larger plastic pot bottoms down. They stack and take up little room and are cheap. It takes a big rain to fill them up. Dump them in the barrel after it rains.

I use the CRD water, straight from the tap, on all my plants. I used to have an RO system, but, stopped using that years ago.

Is distilled or RO water better? Quite possibly. Does straight tap water in Victoria also work? Yes.

We are very lucky to have such clean water..

I always have a bottle of prime around too, just in case I want to make sure the water is clean clean clean.

Maybe you should use an osmosed water unit with a good carbon filter.

I had considered that, apparently chloramine is particularly 'nasty' to filters, and clogs them fairly quickly...

I'm goin to take my chances with the tap water... like they say, if it's good enough for Carson...

Supposedly 1 gram of ascorbic acid can remove 1 ppm chloramine in 40 - 50 gal. water in 8 minutes.
