Do you know the names of plants in your area of the RIBES genus (currant, blackcurrant, etc.)

Here on Vancouver island, BC. we have the native Red-flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum). You don’t really notice it in the wild until the spring when its in bloom then you can’t miss it!

Ribes sanguineum is definitely the currant that steals the show here in B.C. I read that when David Douglas, the Scottish botanist brought it back to Europe people there were very excited to grow it.
