You might want to put a screen over the plants and under the pine needles. Easier to remove in spring.

All the potted plants were brought into my garage to prepare for the cold. Bog planter got trimmed back and will be mulched and covered tomorrow. It's supposed to warm back up to 9 degrees after this brief bit of cold. Looks like I'll be moving plants in and out for the next while...

8 foot grow table is going (high sides because my newfoundlander likes to destroy plants) . Lots of the sarracenia are waking up. Hopefully there's no big freeze coming....

Pollinated the first few flowers today. Only about 40 more to go it's usually a few degrees warmer here in the spring than on the island. This year things were about 4 weeks earlier than last year too..

Bog garden update! Everything is awake, minor losses from winter (couple of filiformis/other dews)
More sarracenia are flowering this year and more of my fly traps have flowers.
Might be the last summer with the bog garden in its current form! Might be moving back to the island this fall/winter and will have to rip it apart

25mm of rain today means that I don't need to water for a while! New pitchers opening every day and new temperate sundews are popping up (which means ill have some to sell). Was going to hand pollinate most of my flowers but with work, kids, and now goats to take care of I'm out of time SO I'm leaving it up to the bees!
