I'd just like a reliable Canadian source of the rarer, difficult, desirable species. After I had every one of the those that I wanted, maybe then I'd want a Drosera tree with psychedelic puffy, traps and huge flowers with big edible tubers that tasted and smelled like truffles.

There is no pain (harm) to dream....:D How about a sarracenia which rhizome tasted and smelled like Ginger ?

Thanks for the input gents!

So many things to deal now! I’m leading my business like I was leading in the army by keeping the troops involve and creating a motivation around things that we share. I know there’s some business that were concern about me arriving in the market but I been trying to keep everyone happy by offering parterships. I been buying production of carnivorous plants all over Canada and many small producer in Quebec. There’s place for everyone. My main objective for in-vitro is to keep our local economy growing in Canada instead of buying outside the country and importing so many plants…..so much money goes outside Canada and it’s not doing any good to our citizen who can work and produce theses plants and not only talking about carnivorous plants but all the tropicals plants nursery buys from the USA and elsewhere.

Voilà I have been buying all small production from my clients, collectionners, etc. keeping everyone happy and keeping the local economy going. I have been receiving so much help from most of you, from my City and Governments, let’s build something that we can be proud as Canadian and if they can do in-vitro in the USA for many type of plants, why not us! Too many years compagnies doing the same thing and importing large quantity from outside our Canada to resell in there nursery in Canada.

Already starting paperwork for building our next Greenhouse for vertical farming of VTF, Sarracenia, Cephalotus and others type which require dormancy as it will be 4 season adaptive temperature greenhouse.

Here’s 2 pictures of my new in-vitro vessel, it’s for liquid in-vitro which is better and will improve production for example Nepenthes because every day you flip the bottle and the liquid touch all parts of the plant inducing more multiplication. It’s more expensive in the beggening but good value for the long term. I will mainly do the classic in-vitro culture with agar and a few liquid one.

Maybe another big news coming early 2024….keep the suspense lol

May be you should consider to reproduce selective/ rare and difficult CP such as Australian CP, Roridula gorgonias, exotics Nep and so many more... and/or non CP rare plants for exporting... And leave the popular CP species to smaller/local producers. You have the in-vitro capacity to reproduce quickly in huge amount, any kind of plants...

The problem is I need to reproduce the classic ones also as they are my best sellers, just with VTF, Sarracenia, Drosera, I need around 9000 plants just for them per year, as my bussiness went from last year less than 12 locations to 44 locations in Quebec for 2023. In a year I sell around 12000 carnivorous plants mostly in Province of Québec. But the best part is I can supply all Canada with my production for less and without importation fees and keeping money in Canada.

For sure, the classic trio Dionaea/Sarracenia/Drosera is a must-have for any business because of the mass market.

But I'm curious to see how this mutagen could affect Nepenthes... I know there are thousands of mutants (cultivars) for other species but for Nepenthes? I always see pure species for pitcher plants.

Very good question, I will ask the specialist to make more research for Nepenthes. Thanks Dogrem, it will help me during the first meeting. I will have different sources for Nepenthes plants and seeds.

I will not patent protect the new variety so this means anyone can reproduce them after. It will keep economy growing everywhere in Canada. Also I help other greenhouse who want to sell carnivorous plants in Canada which mean if one want to be a producer, I offer them wholesale price to promote the carnivorous plants in Canada. Now my other issue for next year will be to upgrade the delivery van lol with this one I could delivered around 30 trays per ride but it’s now too small :p

I have been doing so many tissue culture lately. The program didn’t start yet so I’m doing all by myself and loving it! I bought all the vessel culture of my supplier and now they are B.O. lollllllll

Today I prepared a little batch of medium into some culture vessel for Tomorrow

I feel like I'm missing out now trying tissue culture myself! It was really neat seeing your lab there and how you have it all setup.

Thanks, yes it’s kind of fun and exciting in the same time! There’s the waiting time to see if the culture will produce multiplication and always cool to see strange things growing like the callus.

It took me around 18 months to gather around the equipment. I have learned by trial and error, now my contamination is less than 5% and trying to reach less than 1%

Here’s some picture I took while doing some in-vitro Today

Bleaching and rinsing operation of the plants parts.
