Les serres de Paolo Inc.
Carnivorous Plant Addict
One of the purpose of the in-vitro will be creating new variety. Thanks for your input
There is no pain (harm) to dream....I'd just like a reliable Canadian source of the rarer, difficult, desirable species. After I had every one of the those that I wanted, maybe then I'd want a Drosera tree with psychedelic puffy, traps and huge flowers with big edible tubers that tasted and smelled like truffles.
@Les serres de Paolo Inc. ... ''So many things to deal now! I’m leading my business like I was leading in the army by keeping the troops involve and creating a motivation around things that we share. I know there’s some business that were concern about me arriving in the market but I been trying to keep everyone happy by offering parterships. I been buying production of carnivorous plants all over Canada and many small producer in Quebec. There’s place for everyone.''
May be you should consider to reproduce selective/ rare and difficult CP such as Australian CP, Roridula gorgonias, exotics Nep and so many more... and/or non CP rare plants for exporting... And leave the popular CP species to smaller/local producers. You have the in-vitro capacity to reproduce quickly in huge amount, any kind of plants...
Very good question, I will ask the specialist to make more research for Nepenthes. Thanks Dogrem, it will help me during the first meeting. I will have different sources for Nepenthes plants and seeds. For sure, the classic trio Dionaea/Sarracenia/Drosera is a must-have for any business because of the mass market.
But I'm curious to see how this mutagen could affect Nepenthes... I know there are thousands of mutants (cultivars) for other species but for Nepenthes? I always see pure species for pitcher plants.
I have been doing so many tissue culture lately. The program didn’t start yet so I’m doing all by myself and loving it! I bought all the vessel culture of my supplier and now they are B.O. lollllllll
Today I prepared a little batch of medium into some culture vessel for Tomorrow
I feel like I'm missing out now trying tissue culture myself! It was really neat seeing your lab there and how you have it all setup.
The magnetic stirrer is for cleaning the dew ?Thanks, yes it’s kind of fun and exciting in the same time! There’s the waiting time to see if the culture will produce multiplication and always cool to see strange things growing like the callus.
It took me around 18 months to gather around the equipment. I have learned by trial and error, now my contamination is less than 5% and trying to reach less than 1%
Here’s some picture I took while doing some in-vitro Today
Bleaching and rinsing operation of the plants parts.

The magnetic stirrer is for cleaning the plants by removing any dirt/contamination. In the solution I add soap which combine with the stirrer does a great job. Yes it also removes the dew quickly. The magnetic stirrer is for cleaning the dew ?
