Any cross-country skiers?

Hi All

A friend posted this video about a week ago. It's a video tour of an off-grid ski village on Cape Breton Island. The guy who started it, about 30 years ago, is a bit of a character here :)

Love his sign:

I miss being in the Rockies. The year I worked in the hill rental shop at Lake Louise I used to take a pair of rental skis and ski about 8 km home, about half of that on the frozen over bow river. What an incredibly relaxing way to end the day.

Here in Southern Ontario we don't get a lot of opportunity for descent skiing.

That ski home sounded amazing! I've only been to western Canada once, and it wasn't for skiing. Maybe someday

When I was younger, I did a lot of skiing in the Rockies, mostly cross country. I did a fair amount around Toronto too. Not as amazing but heavily wooded quiet trails are good in a different way.

The quiet woods sounds
Crunchy snow beneath my skis
Evergreen to breathe

I’ve got some back-country skis. Haven’t had a chance to use them yet this year. I was going to go today but we’ve had freezing rain.
