Hi all - With summer approaching (we are down to just about 30cm of snow!), and the capacity to order new plants, plus the growing season coming for most things, I'm curious what everyone is looking forward to growing this year?

Last year, I bought no CP. I told myself I was going to focus on better growing the plants I had, but I let so many other things get in the way. Things I didn't need to do and didn't enjoy. Not this year!

I'm going to get some more Mexi Pings, as well as some more tuberous dews, improve my Mist King setup, tweak my water-cooled, highland grow room, put in a veg garden, and finally setup that aquarium I want construct. So, you know. Not ambitious at all. ;-)

Anyone else planning on biting off more than they can chew? I want to hear about the exciting plans everyone has.

    Wow, that must be tough!
For me, I would like to grow more Mexi Pings and add more plants to my TC collection.

Im preparing some plans to build two mini-bogs except one of them is going to be only from seed! (Purp, purp hybrids only for the from seed one) and (an assortment of plants for the other)

Next im going to try to build some Styrofoam container during the summer to cover all my plants for winter dormancy or get some better burlap covers.

And last but not least, Im going to destroy my wallet by buying plants on impulse. :D

This year, I want to try to grow nepenthes from seeds, then near fall, get some lights for sowing new seeds and grow them in my basement.

And if I have some success with the Nepenthes seeds during the summer, I'll try to find some N.Veitchii 'Bario' and N.Truncata seeds. :D

I'm pretty much brand new to CP's so I'm looking forward to just expanding my collection! Looking to add some helis and cephs and will likely swing by Humber Nurseries to pick up a Sarracenia and VFT.

Also I bought a cool Thai desert rose (grown bonsai style) at the last Toronto Orchid Show so I'm going to attempt to train some of the branches.

I want to get some cold hardy plant to make a bog garden outside. Sarrs, VFTs and Droseras. I also hope to get N.Aristolochioides since it's my favorite plant of all. If we can declare Gideon a trustable source, I will buy the seeds from him. I'm also going to build a garden with wooden pallets.

I'm looking forward to growing some small pitcher Nepenthes but so far my attempts at getting viable seed has failed, or my cultivation methods need work.

I also would like to grow smaller orchids from the genus Dracula and Masdevallia.

That's a great list of stuff all! Looks like outside bogs are on a number of project lists this year. Maybe I should add that to my list... Hmm.

Lloyd - I have no doubt any plants you designate as "weird" will be truly fitting of the title!

Willy - We'll have to compare notes on new pings! And to be clear, it's not like I didn't buy any plants - I was just focused on cacti and broms.

Raymond - I've been thinking about doing a setup that could make it through the winter. But there is so much on my list already. And, I too will likely buy on impulse. I can't maintain forever the discipline I did last year.

Dogrem - That's an admirable goal! My luck with Neps from seed is not nearly what I would like it to be.

Krizz - Good luck with your conquest!

Stanley - I remember being able to add new stuff when I was new to the hobby. It's really thrilling! Enjoy!

Samskwatch - I also love Nepenthes aristolochioides! Such a fantastic species. Good luck with your pursuit!

Yukondave - If you crack the Nep code for getting tiny seedlings to grow into mature plants, share the secrets with me. I could use them! Good luck with the pleurothallids!

I would be looking forward to set up a highland/ultra highland set up for neps, and buying some rarer species such as tenuis, robcantleyi, and maybe an eddie!

Also willing to expand my VFT cultivar collection!

BUSY! With work and running around no time to appreciate my plants!
Unfortunately some of my CP didn't take well to my vacationing this year.
No new CPs of late just cactus but always looking for new additions!
    You?

That’s what winter is for, time to slow down and appreciate those plants.

I put our Cp’s out in the yard for two weeks while we were away. The sprinkler would soak them every couple days. They looked better and happier then when I was caring for them.

    You said it Steve!
But as far as putting the plants outside, it's a no go in its current state (renting) my yard is a 4x6 stretch of gad metres and garbage bins full of.... Dirt? Cement? Dead bodies? From the previous tenant that the rental company insists is to heavy to move haha
