Somebody is getting into my car

Ok, that's kind of weird and freaky, but it's been twice within a week that someone is getting inside my car at night. Last week I found my car door unlocked, and thought I had forgotten to lock them, although I always double check and triple check.

Tonight my neighbor told me my car door was open, so I went to check and found my door just left open, the light inside the car was turned off, and the full content of my glove box everywhere on the floor, the glove box was left open.

It's too dark now to check anything but tomorrow I will go check if something is missing. What on earth would they want in a glove box? I don't even leave my registration there. Just the car manual, some junk, receipt from the garage, and my lock for the wheels (now only plain winter rim on the car).

I just hope they did not steal my lock for my mag wheels because the bolts are on my winter tire and I would not be able to remove them. yike.

That's the only thing that I could be worried they could have stolen.

What do you think they were looking for? We have 3 cars in the drive way and they seem to have only go into my car, a small Nissan Micra 2015. I put a camera with motion detection and alert, so next time I will be alerted. It's really freaking.

That's horrible. I hope they didn't steal anything from you. You might want to report this to the police and see if there's a way to change the lock etc.

I don't think it will make a difference if I changed the lock. They probably only use the type of gismo that can open pretty much any car windows. I don't think they have a key. My car use electronic encoded key, and the car would not start without it (supposed). It's pretty easy to open a car door without a key. Any taxi can do it for you if you forget your key inside. It's just weird that they keep coming back to my car. I have nothing if value in it and the bolt key are worthless without the bolts. If they took the key for my bolts they would need to take the bolts as well. Ho well. I will see tomorrow.

Maybe they were looking for cash. Do people leave cash in their glove box?

Yes that could be it. I've read that a lot of break-in for cars is because they want to find cash or drugs.

I think that dealers keep those special bolt keys. I doubt they stole them. Probably looking for cash/credit cards/drugs/ electronics/ID.
I didn't know it was so easy to open car doors/windows these days. Are alarms expensive?

Interesting article.
Keep nothing in the car, leave the glove compartment empty and open, doors locked, parked in a well-lit busy area and hope for the best.

Yep, they did stole my locks key but fortunately since I have my winter wheels I had not put them on the rim. So they stole the bolts and the keys, as they were in a small bag together. I never thought about installing an alarm because I never have much of value inside my car but that is freaking me out. It's very easy to open a car door, they slide the tool between the glass and the door and voilà, it takes 2 seconds.

They also took an old dash cam that was not working any more and they left the power supply for it. They might return to get it later maybe once they realise they can't use the dash cam without the power supply.

Must be druggies. They could only get a few $'s fencing wheel locks/bolts. Still very annoying and creepy. I once had my car broken in in a bad part of town. Missed my loonie collection!

So sorry to hear, Daniella. Almost every single car I've had has also been broken into. Don't live in bad areas and not fancy cars. Never anything of value left in them. They've taken change, CDs, a car radio and even an air deflector for the sunroof. There are some really bad people out there. And I hate the feeling that someone has been through my car. I feel for you.

I put a motion detection security camera up and we are now leaving the tempo door closed. If someone get inside the tempo the security camera will alert me on my cell phone right away and I will be able to check the view on my cell phone and even talk to them ''I see you!!!''. They deflated completely 2 tires of my neighbor. Good thing we had a small pump here. Also good thing they did not damage the cars. They are annoying thieves but they are not vandals.

Amazon Official Site: Blink Outdoor

this is the camera I had bought a few months ago for checking my grow tent. It's easy to position because it does not require wire but it must be positioned so it keep the internet connection (must have a good wifi system at home) and it must be positioned high enough because it's easy to steal if it is at arm reach.

I thought maybe it's some kids around or some adolescents and because of the curfew they are stuck in the neighborhood, not being able to move around in cars, so they do stupid things. My neighbor had 2 of his tires deflated. Who would do this? either a very stupid person or a kid, or probably stupid kid.

In my old neighborhood (a few miles from LLoyd, no less!) my VW was broken into and all they did was pull the ancient Garmin GPS off the windshield and toss it on the front seat. I think in the mind of a thief, if they can't take something valuable, they at least have to let you know they've been there.

Hope you sort it out and it stops, Daniella.

Hopefully you catch them! It's very sad what this world has resorted to. Stealing peoples goods, breaking into cars just to wreak havoc on innocent lives.

Well, I just learned from my neighbor that they put nails in 2 of his tires. He came back from the garage today and this type of brackets do too much damage so 2 of his tires are scrap. They put it right under the wheels and when the person back up the nails or brackets get into the tire deep. Now we'll have to check each wheel before we leave with the cars to make sure no such item is resting under the tires.

Have you called the Police?
Not yet, my neighbor will do that. I am a bit worried of having the police coming inside my home right now because I am in quarantine for 14 days in order to get my mother vaccinated and being able to go live with her for a few days. I want to avoid all contacts and don't want the police to get inside my house at all until that's done.
