Nepenthes Tropical Pitcher Plants vol 1,2,3 Collectors edition

Hi all,

I see our intrepid colleague, Stewart McPherson, will be releasing a collectors edition of his work. It will contain a lot of photos and it looks fairly awesome!

Last week, Stewart wrote:
"After fifteen years of work and climbing 300 mountains, my life's work is nearly complete and ready for release in 2021.
Nepenthes - The Tropical Pitcher Plants Volumes 1, 2 & 3 is a complete study of all known species of Nepenthes currently recognised.
It is 1,350 pages long and contains over 3,000 images (more than 1,000 have never been published before.
Nepenthes – The Tropical Pitcher Plants is specifically designed to complement Stewart McPherson’s past books: New Nepenthes Volume 1 and New Nepenthes Volume 2. The New Nepenthes series includes countless expedition reports, conservation assessments and wild observations that underpin the treatment and taxonomy presented here.
Available as standard hardback books and limited edition, premium leather-bound, collector’s edition volumes!"

I'd probably be ordering a set of his new books to add to my other books. Sitting down and flipping through tactile pages is quite enjoyable for old school guys like myself.

Here's a link to these books:

It does sound great. I try to limit the numbers of big/expensive plant books because they generally after a while sit there unread. Too bad there isn't some cheap way of exchanging books among ourselves.

I agree. We used to share our books in our old CP club. But with the internet and all, it took away the drive for enthusiasts to get together to trade plants, share tips and read books. The internet has made it too convenient, none of that long wait and looking forward feeling. But on the other hand, the Net has made it possible to meet new friends around the world, easier to find once difficult plants... and most important, safe during this pandemic.

I saw his announcement video regarding the books but had a feeling it will be quite pricey, especially since it needs to be imported into Canada. Seems it's £494.96 or roughly $857.36 CAD with shipping.
Yes, kind of steep. But what the heck. It's something to spoil myself with... and I love reading and supporting authors, especially on topics I enjoy :)

Well, maybe we should do a meet/trade/maybe hike when this is all over! I'd love to participate. I've never met many other carnivorous plant enthusiasts in real life!

That is for the leather bound collectors edition. The normal edition is a good bit cheaper (though still not cheap by any means)
I think the normal editions are 150 pounds sterling
Edit: it ends up close to 200 pounds with shipping

I agree! Once we all get vaccinated and the world calms down a bit, I was thinking of hosting a BBQ to celebrate the completion of my tropical greenhouse.
Where in Canada are you?

Yeah! that sounds like a great idea! Also, maybe one of us could share screen or show us the nepenthes book! It looks fabulous.
