How long can you store seeds in a fridge?

I am going to buy some temperate seeds, but wondered how long can I keep these temperate seeds in a fridge for before the seeds go bad.
I read a article that says you keep seeds in a fridge for about 4 - 8 weeks.Could I keep the seeds in a fridge for about 12 weeks?

I am planning to sow the seeds after the cold period at April. Thanks! :)

You can dry store the seeds in the fridge for a VERY long time, people have had seeds in their fridge for years and they still germinated.
The 4-8week duration is the COLD STRATIFICATION which is when you place the seeds in a moist area for the allotted time. But yah you can stratify for 12 weeks too though the benefits are not really noticeable

Thanks for the help!
I just wanted to keep them for 12 weeks because I wanted to plant them in the spring and not in the middle of winter.

In terms of dry storage, I had some eight year old Drosera seeds germinate recently - when I'm purchasing CP seeds I usually look for seeds that were collected in the last 1-2 years for the best chance of germination though.

I stratify my seeds ending of January - start of February. Ready for march planting on a windowsill. Have you tried cheap grow lights, im still using my $20 one from amazon and getting great use out of it. #ShamelessAdvertising in my photo thread all my seedlings are using that $20 light. Still waiting on that to die or to get a lot more plants (most likely) so I can convince myself to buy Willy's grow lights.

I have just put some seeds I got from Willy in the fridge in folded up in wet coffee filters. He suggested neem spray for plants to control mold but I couldn’t get any.the nursery I went to suggested watering with chamomile tea which I’ve done...any hints on mold control? I’ll go check them now, but it’s only been a week so likely not a problem yet.

I just check mine every two weeks to make sure no mold is growing. If there is I remove seeds and give them fresh coffee filter and water.

I've been using ground cinnamon (enough to have a brown coating) on wet paper towel never had a issue with mold and if i did I would just replace the paper towel

With the seeds being so small, how do you move them to new filters? And do they not lost in the cinnamon? I have heard it’s good too.

The cinimon stains the paper but by slightly drying the paper towel it's easy to brush the seeds into another towel after removing mold or anything without too much cinnamon carrying over.

Thanks Raymond, that’s not something I’d have thought of!
