I would remove them from the tall semi-transparent container, or cut the container lower so that it does not shade them from the light. That will help probably, when they are starting out. I do get those long skinny pitchers at some point but usually they produce large ones by the end of summer. Never add water to the pitchers as they don't need it to digest insects.
The barrel will look nice once the plants have settled in.
